Skyview Realty to hold Grand Opening of New Location, the Hayward House on December 15
Public invited to Attend & Tour Historic Home

Colchester, CT-  Skyview Realty invites the public to attend a Grand Opening Celebration and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of their newest location, commonly known as the Hayward House , located at 35 Hayward Avenue in Colchester. The celebration will be held on Saturday December 15th from 12:00pm – 2:00pm.  Colchester’s newest First Selectman Linda Hodge is scheduled to attend and assist with the ribbon cutting at 12:15 pm.

Attendees that join Skyview Realty in this celebration will have the opportunity to learn about the building by its newest owner, Jack Faski. He will also host several tours throughout the historic home.

“We are really pleased to invite the public to celebrate with us and take tours through this home that has been the center of Colchester’s community life for so long,” said Faski. “Being in this building means a lot to us, and being able to share it with others is exactly what the history of this building is all about. Please join us!”

A light reception will be available on the second floor of the home, and will be provided by local restaurants. Skyview Realty agents will be available to answer questions about their services. A donation basket will be present for those that wish to donate to Campaign SightFirst II, a global campaign created by the Lions Club International Foundation that has helped to treat more than 100 million people around the world with impaired vision.  Skyview Realty has helped to collect and donate hundreds of dollars to this effort in the past 6 months.

The Hayward House was originally built as the largest house in the center of the village of Colchester. Its front lawn used to be the Colchester Town Green. The building served as a store, a tavern and a meeting place. By the late 1700’s the town was one of the fastest growing rural towns in the colony. Originally owned by Dudley Wright, the home was sold to Nathanial Hayward in 1848. Hayward was an inventor and created the Hayward Rubber Company. The company moved its large plant to Colchester, employed many people, shipped rubber products all over the country, and thrived for 44 years.
