Association Members Subscribe to New Code of Ethics
Businesses Opt to Lead Ethical Work Practices
The Colchester Business Association (CBA) and its members unanimously approved a new code of ethics at the last general meeting. The new code outlines behaviors and norms that all members subscribe to as a requirement of membership in the association. There are six key topics: truth, honesty, integrity, cooperativeness, community, and self regulation.
“Our members passed this code because they believe that in order for a business to succeed it must earn the respect and confidence of those it aspires to serve,” said Jack Faski, CBA president. “We are very happy it passed and hope that this will show people outside the CBA that when they do business with one of our members it will be an ethical experience.”
The code was originally created by the CBA board of directors. They studied other organizations codes and spent many hours discussing the details. Members were asked to vote on the code; after it was passed they signed agreements certifying that they would adhere to the code. The association reserves the right to revoke membership if any member fails to abide by the code.
