Colchester Business Association Donates Thousands to Food Bank
Wall of Honor displayed at 57 Fest for all to see!

At the 57 Fest the Colchester Business Association (CBA) completed its first CBA/Food Bank Partnership Program by donating proceeds to the Colchester Food Bank. CBA President Jack Faski and CBA board member Tina Rice presented a check to First Selectman Linda Hodge for two thousand and one hundred dollars. Since then additional funds have been collected; there is now a total of over $2,300 that will be donated by this initiative to the food bank. The funds were generously provided by individuals, CBA members, and local businesses in exchange for paper gazebos that symbolized the gazebo at the center of town and the support that community gives in times of need.

Although the program asked for a dollar of support per gazebo, many gave more, knowing that 100% of the funds were going to help supplement local families daily meals and personal product needs.  Family Pizza, Liberty Bank, Copies Plus, Jon’s Fish Market, and the Moms Club of Colchester- East Division went above and beyond to raise money for this worthy cause. All paper gazebos were hung on the CBA’s “Wall of Honor” at the 57 Fest.

“We’re so very thankful to all of those that donated to this program,” said Tina Rice, Gazebo Project Coordinator and Human Resource Director of S&S Worldwide. “By donating one dollar or more, or a being able to sell and display the paper gazebos at your place of business, you have all done so much for our community in need.”

The initiative was founded in order to benefit the many families in Colchester that have come to rely on the food bank. Last fall the CBA Cares Food & Fuel drive benefited many families in need of food and fuel assistance throughout the winter months.

At the 57 Fest the association also had a booth with a prize wheel where attendees were able to spin a wheel and receive free prizes donated from CBA member businesses. Both the food drive and prize wheel are ways that the 170 local business member organization gives back to the community. For over 25 years the CBA has promoted, supported and encouraged business development in Colchester.  Their motto is- Shop Colchester First! They produce the Business Showcase, Scarecrow Contest, Tag Sale on the Green and other events. For more information on the CBA and its membership benefits visit or call 860-537-0340.
