Sixteen Local Artists Display Artwork in the Hartford Courant Room
Hartford, CT-Sixteen Open Studio Hartford artists will be honored during a special reception at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, to be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011, from 5-8 pm during the museum’s First Thursday Block Party. Admission is free for museum members and $10.00 for non-members.
The Open Studio Hartford artists’ artwork was originally part of the November 2010 kick-off reception for Open Studio Weekend, which featured 128 works of art. The artists and artwork were chosen by juror Stephen Kornhauser, Chief Conservator at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. Selected artists include; Joyce Adomaitis with She Embraces Her Truth Fearlessly; Linn Bae with Self Portrait with Red Hair; Ethan Boisvert with Susanna and the Countess; Jon Eastman with 58, NEW; Phil Fortune with Past Prime; Lyn Harper with Safe Period; Damon Hellandbrand with The Sphinx; Barbara Hocker with Memento Mori III; Gary Jacobs with In Memory Of Dead Friends; Ashleigh Kay with She Dropped The Charges The Next Day; Tao LaBossiere with Self-portrait of the artist hung over; Natasha Miles with What's Next, Part II.; Benjamin Parker with Kaleidoscopic Sternutation in Brown; Katherine Pelkey with Wisdom Passed; Patricia Rosoff with Cost Allocation (Blush); and Iya Tucker with Echo. All artwork is themed “Coming of Age!”
The reception will be held in the Hartford Courant room and will include a cash bar and a free hors d’oeuvres table for guests. The museum is located at 600 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06103. Founded by Daniel Wadsworth, the institution is American’s first public art museum. From its onset, the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art maintained a deep commitment to living artists.
